Cardilla Family Ancestry 20 Year Update.

Re: The relationship between the two Cardilla families living in Asbury Park from 1897 to 1958.

~ ~ ~

The two Cardilla families lived within a 1/2 mile of each other on Springwood in Asbury Park. Both families had business' and we interacted regularly but were not intimately close. As an example, I went to "Red the Barber" all the time as a child because he was "family." We all did. There are many other examples but at the same time, we didn't go to their birthday parties, nor did they ours. We didn't go to their weddings and rarely their funerals. Neither did they. We lived together in the same town and bury our kin in the same cemeteries.

What was missing? "la Famiglia." It just wasn't there. Strange? I thought so.

I remember several times asking about this relationship because it was there, but not as close as I felt a family should be. I was curious. But each time I asked the question about our relationship I really didn't get an answer. One time, as an adult I cornered my father and ask him again. What was their relationship to us? Who was Guiseppe Cardilla. He told me "I don't really know, I was always told to just call him grandpop. So I did."

So I thought maybe Great Grandpop Peter Michael and Guiseppe were brothers. That made sense, but I didn't know for sure.

I've spent 20 plus years searching for an answer to a question I've had since childhood. I asked this question multiple time while growing up and never received a definitive answer. So I've spent thousands of dollars and thousands of hours, researching, reading and obtaining every piece of data I could find looking for any possible clue that I thought might bring me closer to the answer. And I've alway come up empty.

Then, on 26 December 2018 I finally found the answer to this mystery question. "What was the true relationship between the Peter M. Cardilla (1858 - 1939) family and the Giuseppe A. Cardilla (1873 - 1958) family, both of Asbury Park, New Jersey?"

I found the connection and here it is.

One member from each family's in-laws, married, connecting both Cardilla families.

Well, here it is, see for yourself.

This is the verified, documented, actual ancestral relationship between the two Cardilla families of Asbury Park, New Jersey.

    The Relationship Between:
    Giuseppe Albert Cardilla (1873 - 1958) and Peter Michael Cardilla (1858 - 1939)

Giuseppe is the "husband of sister-in-law of 1st cousin of daughter-in-law" to Peter

    ..."wait, wha?"

    The Relationship Between:
    Peter Michael Cardilla (1858 - 1939) and Giuseppe Albert Cardilla (1873 - 1958)

Peter is the "father-in-law of 1st cousin of wife of brother-in-law" to Giuseppe

    ..."huh?"

OK! I know that didn't help right? But it is accurate.

Here is the data supporting my thesis.

The Connection between the Peter Cardilla Family and the Giuseppe Cardilla Family was through Marriage.

The Marriage of "Dolores A. Annecharico" and "Joseph P. De Angelis" on 6 June 1924 at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Asbury Park, New Jersey

Both were the in-laws of Peter M. Cardilla and Giuseppe A. Cardilla. (see below)

   - Peter Michael Cardilla (1858 - 1939)
   | father-in-law of 1st cousin of wife of brother-in-law
   |
   | Michael George Cardilla (1905 - 1988)

   |
   |-> * Dolores Antoinette Annecharico (1906 - 1995)
   | Daughter of Antonio Annechiarico
   |
   |-> * Joseph Paul DeAngelis (1896 - 1986)
   | Husband of Dolores Antoinette Annecharico
   |
   | Vincenzo De Angelis (1860 - 1938)
   | Father of Joseph Paul De Angelis
   |
   | Theresa De Angelis (1890 - 1958)
   | Daughter of Vincenzo De Angelis
   |
   - Giuseppe Albert Cardilla (1873 - 1958)
                        Husband of Theresa De Angelis

So as it stands right now, I have found no evidence of a blood connection between the two Cardilla boys, Peter and Giuseppe.
